
Phil is passionate about homegrown timber, building connections with foresters and delivering excellence in craft education. He enjoys sharing his incredible depth of knowledge gathered over a lifetime in the industry.
Phil brings to the role an incredible breadth of woodworking experience. He has been involved in the teaching and assessing qualifications for wood occupations for more than 15 years. Most recently this was as the nationwide quality assurer of furniture qualifications and as an assessor of furniture-making apprenticeships. For several years he led the the City and Guilds programmes at Rycotewood, mentoring, encouraging and empowering students to fulfil their potential. Prior to this, he was a workshop manager for several high-profile furniture/kitchen makers, and has successfully run his own workshop.
