Wood machining

This course has been designed to give you an introduction to woodworking machinery in our very well equipped training workshop. Our projects will take you on the complete journey from selecting the timber all the way through to applying a finish.

It will cover the essential health and safety training as well as guiding participants in how to get the best out of the machines to achieve high quality results.

Machines covered include;

Cross Cut and Rip Saws for breaking down large planks of timber.

Surface and Thickness Planers for accurate timber preparation.

Panel Saw and Bandsaw for dimensioning, shaping and jointing.

The course will begin with an introduction to each individual machine, we will explain dangers and limitations, main causes of accidents and safe working practice. As you work through the project we will provide direct supervision and feedback through observation.

You will also be working with hand and power tools to create joints and to shape/profile components.

This course is only available for those aged 18+. It is suitable for those with some previous experience of woodworking, perhaps you have attended our Introductory course and want to learn more! However you do not need to have any experience using woodworking machinery.
